Season 2 Episode 1 – Dead Rider, Seattle Hot Dogs, A New Album and A Dude Asks Landon For Money.

We got to talk with 2 of 3 members of Dead Rider after the show at Barboza in Seattle on Wednesday October 4th, 2017. Check our their new album and other music at:
www.dragcity.com/products/crew-licks
They are still on tour for a bit so if you can, go check them out!

Also if you want to play along at home… take a shot every time I say “fantastic.”

Episode 4 – Zak Keipp, Modular tech talk, and Who the hell has been mowing my lawn?

In this episode, we went a little more technical than usual but still had a blast. We talk about eruorack modular synthesizers, our setups, where we started, and how we’ve grown. We get two awesome tracks by Zak Keipp or “Chemotroph.” We fall a little / a lot off the rails and discuss Bone Thugs N Harmony, and who has been cutting my lawn?

One little side note, despite the fact we are jockin balls, none of the companies we reference paid us to say shit, we just really like our gear.

Stay tuned for more Whiskey & Wires soon!!

Burnt Tongues and Spenny Split “Divide.”

Recently we had Spencer “Spenny” Walden on and talked about playing a show together and doing a split. Well, the show was dope and now here is the split. Divide is two tracks… The first is Spenny and the second is Chris’ project Burnt Tongues. It’s free and shit so feel free to check it out or just stream it on Bandcamp.

Episode 3 – Mind Quad, Pedals, Porn, More CZAR and No Shirts.

In this episode, things get real sexy with the dudes from Mind Quad. We talk about their upcoming tour with Sister Act. We hand out shout outs like they are Halloween candy. We ask the big questions like. “Was Vietnam and inside job?” We discuss buying/naming your own price. We also learn who Chris looks like. This ones a doozy at a lengthy 98 minutes. You’ll find your self laughing, maybe crying and even learning about shit.

Check out Mind Quad:
They just released a new EP called “QSEP” and are staying busy around and outside of the Tacoma / Seattle area

Episode 2 – Spencer “Spenny” Walden, Modular cases, Instagram and we don’t know anything!

In this episode we find our heros lost in a forest of dick jokes and confusing rants. We spend time talking with Spencer “Spenny” Walden (spennytacoma.bandcamp.com) and learn of his rise to synth smashing and noise gnashing. We listen to a few fun improvised synth sessions and a live version of a track off an album he’s working on. #sexwedge. Also Alia Jyawook, we forgot her name and were to dumb to just google it.

Don’t forget to check out Spenny.

The First…

Like most blogs we will start this off with a “What is this blog?” post…

That being said, what we are trying to do is create a place to discuss synthesizers, modular synths, pedals, and sound. That seems really vague, I know, but we kind of like that.

The main goal is to add to the existing community for these topics. We hope to develop a podcast, YouTube, and other similar content sharing accounts to share music from both ourselves, and our friends. We also want to discuss the gear, the tactics, the confusing parts, the fun parts, the costs and the experiences.

For now I’d like to introduce myself (I’ll keep it brief). My name is Chris Duenas and I love making noise. I’ve been playing music for a long time but within the past 4 years I have heavily focused my time on synth. I am currently a member of the band CZAR, in which I try to add my own style of weird. Since joining I’ve built up a vast collection of synths and pedals and of course wires.

The other member of this project is Landon Wonser. He is the vocalist of CZAR and is a huge fan of this topic. He plays synths and drum machines. My hope is that he will add a different perspective to all of our discussions.

This is the start of something we hope will be fun, interesting, and entertaining. We hope to bring other musicians in to discuss their equipment and experiences. We hope to create and record music with all involved. We also hope that you find our blog, podcast, videos, and other stuff worth your time.

Thanks for reading and we hope to get more content out soon!
